Since mid-February 2019, we have been looking at ways to make blueberry cultivation in northern Germany more ecological while at the same time being able to guarantee a high production volume of its delicious blue fruit.

At least at the moment, both are difficult or impossible to implement together. Organic farming methods, if they work, deliver significantly lower production volumes. Anyone looking to achieve yields from their blueberry plants is almost dependent on the use of chemical support.

With our research project, which is supported by the European development fund "EIP Agri", we want to break up exactly this problem. Through the development of smart fertilizers on a biological basis, which only give the plant as much fertilizer as it needs at a certain point in time!
